High-End and Ultra-Compact

The new MELSEC FX3UC CPU brings greater flexibility and more performance to applications which do not have space for traditional style PLC's. Like all other members of the FX family, each FX3UC PLC consists of a fully-integrated base unit that contains all the necessary PLC components, from the CPU to memory and the I/O controller.

The smallest base unit with 8 digital inputs and 8 transistor outputs takes up just 27 % of the space required for a comparable FX3U unit – and yet the FX3UC incorporates all the features of the FX3U.

The FX3UC base units all have a 24V DC power supply and are available in versions with 16, 32, 64 or 96 I/Os. They can be expanded up to a maximum configuration of 384 I/Os by adding expansion modules and networked I/O points.

Just like the FX3U, the FX3UC offers outstanding connectivity for all standard networks.

I/O terminal blocks with screw or spring terminals can be connected with standard ribbon cable connectors.

Are you looking for a control solution with power to spare? Then the FX3UC may be what you are looking for with:

A platform to build on

The strength of System Q’s automation platform really comes into its own in traditional specialist industries. The unique flexibility of proven off-the-shelf control components such as I/O and communication devices, teamed with dedicated special devices like process CPUs, assures high functionality, ease of use and targeted control – all within budget.

Two worlds meet

Our dedicated System Q process CPUs build on the already high functionality of Mitsubishi’s advanced PLC CPUs. This powerful combination of sequential control overlaid with dedicated process instructions gives users a hybrid control solution with the best of both worlds.

This is complemented in turn by a range of dedicated channel-isolated and highresolution analogue modules. Here, too, a combination of specialist and standard modules provides the basis for practical and flexible solutions.

High system availability can be maintained through various means, including redundant process CPUs, stand-by network masters, and redundant network configurations, as well as by wire-break detection and a “hot-swap” capability that allows modules to be replaced during live operation.

Programming can be implemented using a wide range of tools such as IEC1131.3 compliant software and the process-dedicated PX Developer.

Process CPUs

System Q’s Process CPUs bring the benefits of standard System Q technology into the process environment, reducing both implementation and long-term running costs. These powerful processors combine standard PLC control with 52 dedicated process control functions, including loop controls with two degrees of freedom (DOF) and highspeed PID control.

Redundant CPUs

Mitsubishi Electric’s dual-redundant CPUs bring an additional layer of fault tolerance to the control of a whole system. This results in high reliability: if the main CPU, power supply or base unit fails, a secondary system starts immediately (within 21ms) from the same control point.

For users this has two major benefits: no operational damage due to a single system failure, and production that continues seamlessly.

High reliability systems

The System Q automation platform can also be applied to other areas requiring high reliability, e.g. standby network masters, redundant fieldbus (CC-Link) and redundant power supplies for remote I/O stations.

In addition, selected analogue and temperature control units have a wirebreak detection feature enabling them to determine the difference between an actual signal and one that has been lost due to external system damage.

HMI solutions for every application

Processes and quality standards are becoming increasingly complex and demanding, requiring industrial automation systems capable of providing much more detailed information on the control processes for plant and machinery.

Mitsubishi Electric provides a broad spectrum of operating and visualisation systems, ranging from simple text-based HMI panels to full-featured industrial PCs. The series include text-based HMI panels, graphical HMI panels, HMI panels with function keys, HMI panels with touch screens and industrial PCs in a variety of different versions.

Vision 1000

Mitsubishi Electric has pushed forward the development of its visualisation programme, realigning the products in this sector with a new concept called Vision 1000. This concept is built around three series of products based on the latest technologies: the E1000, IPC1000 and GOT1000 series. All three series share flexibility, openess and seamless compatibility with all Mitsubishi Electric automation systems.

Industrial Modems

Making the integration of telemetry and control simple and seamless

The demand for remote control and low cost fault messaging systems applied to automation or remote facility management has grown rapidly. Mitsubishi Electric Europe has addressed this need through telemetry solutions based on a range of powerful Industrial Modems and management software.

There are two different types of Mitsubishi Industrial Modem: Intelligent Modems (MAM) and Standard Modems (MIM). Each type has models for connection to an analog Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) or a Global System for Mobile Telecommunication (GSM).

These new Industrial Modems are designed to be flexible and easy to use offering a simple RS232, RS422 or RS485 connection to the target device. Selected models even have Mitsubishi PLC protocols built in as standard making the integration of telemetry and control simple and seamless.

MELSERVO - Servo technology that does more

Mitsubishi Electric offers a variety of Servo and Motion system products providing solutions for applications as simple as a single axis point-to-point system through to fully synchonised 96 axis systems.

With both standard pulse type output modules and SSCNET bus modules specific application needs are easy to meet.

The MR-J3 Series of Servo motors and amplifiers takes Mitsubishi Motion Control to new levels of precision with a wide range of motors (all fitted with a standard 262,144 absolute encoder) and wide amplifier range (up to 110kW).
